Through St. Andrew's Active Ageing Centres (SAAACs) located in the heartlands, we provide spaces for seniors to find social support and age well within the community. Together, SAMH and SACS run 45 service units, including nine AACs and nine senior care centres, providing essential care and support for underserved and disadvantaged persons in Singapore.

I was depressed and threw away all my clothes. The team saw that I wore the same clothes every day, so they brought me shopping and bought clothes for me.

Building Friendships

Mdm Jasbir, 65, member and volunteer at St. Andrew’s Active Ageing Centre (PEACE-Connect@8) (Pecco@8), formerly known as Anglican Senior Centre (PEACE-Connect@8).

Within five years of joining Pecco@8, Mdm Jasbir has built a family-like bond with the staff and members. Before, Mdm Jasbir neglected her health and refused to communicate with social workers. But the team continued to engage her, escorted her to the centre and encouraged her to take part in activities. Mdm Jasbir was moved by their loving care.

Now, Mdm Jasbir has blossomed into a loyal volunteer at Pecco@8, bringing in many new members.

As a volunteer, Mdm Jasbir organises bingo games, befriends residents and brings members for outings.

The staff and my friends here shower me with a lot of care and concern. Most of the members here know me. They love me so much, and I love them in return!
