The official opening ceremony of Anglican Senior Centre (ASC) (Tampines) was held on 12 January 2019 with Mr. Desmond Choo, Mayor of North East District, Adviser to Tampines Grassroots Organisation (GROs) and Member of Parliament for Tampines Group Representation Constituency (GRC) as the Guest-of-Honour. Representatives from government and partner agencies, members of the Tampines Grassroots Organisation and residents, were among the guests present that morning.

To promote graceful ageing, ASC (Tampines) serves as a social and recreational hub for the elderly to come together, develop their social network and discover the joy of pursuing their interests with fellow peers. At the centre, clients are engaged in activities that promote their well-being, such as physical exercises, haircut sessions, as well as ukulele and dance classes. At the event, guests were impressed as seniors from the centre’s ukulele and dance interest groups showcased their talents with performances.

Various activity booths exhibited an array of services and programmes available at the centre, such as Share-a-pot, a collaboration with Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) to enhance the wellness of elderly residents through physical exercises and social conversations over a bowl of nutritious soup specially selected by KTPH’s nutritionists. Also showcased was the centre’s community health post, a partnership with Changi General Hospital (CGH) where community nurses from CGH provide consultation sessions and health talks at the centre twice a month.
